Ecclesiastes 3:11
A word from The General
There have been many times in my life when I could not understand why something was happening. Looking back, I can see that some of the greatest blessings in my life came through circumstances I would never have chosen for myself.
There were seasons of lost love and love lost, experiences that are now far in the past. Yet through them came greater love and the greatest love of all — the Major, my wonderful wife, and God, who gave me life.
At the time, the pieces did not seem to fit together.
Some doors closed.
Some plans changed.
Some opportunities disappeared.
There were seasons when I wondered what God was doing.
Yet as the years passed, I began to see something remarkable. God was often working on a much larger picture than the one I could see in front of me.
As human beings, we naturally want answers. We want to understand why things happen when they do. We want to know what comes next. We want the entire roadmap before taking the next step.
But God rarely works that way.
He asks us to trust Him.
Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us that God sees the complete picture while we only see a small part of it. What may seem confusing today may one day reveal itself as part of a much greater plan.
I have learned that faith often means trusting God with the unfinished chapters.

Scripture
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart..."
— Ecclesiastes 3:11
Background
The Book of Ecclesiastes was written by King Solomon, the son of David. Solomon was known for his wisdom, wealth, accomplishments, and influence. Yet despite having more success than most people could ever imagine, he still wrestled with some of life's deepest questions.
He observed that life often contains mysteries we cannot fully understand.
Why do some people suffer?
Why do plans change?
Why do good people face hardship?
Why do some answers seem delayed?
Through his observations, Solomon came to realize that God's purposes extend far beyond human understanding.
In Ecclesiastes chapter 3, Solomon reflects on God's perfect timing and reminds us that while we may not understand everything, God is still at work.
Meaning of “Everything Beautiful in Its Time”
This verse is not saying that every situation feels beautiful when we are living through it.
Often it does not.
Loss hurts.
Disappointment hurts.
Waiting can be difficult.
Unanswered questions can be frustrating.
Yet God has a way of working through circumstances over time.
What appears broken today may become part of a testimony tomorrow.
What feels like a setback may become a blessing we could not have imagined.
God's timing is rarely rushed, but it is always purposeful.
The verse also tells us that God has "set eternity in the human heart."
There is something within us that longs for more than this world can offer.
We were created for a relationship with God and for an eternal purpose that extends beyond our earthly lives.
Encouragement for Today
Perhaps there is something in your life that does not make sense right now.
A disappointment.
A closed door.
A delay.
A season of uncertainty.
Take comfort in knowing that God sees what you cannot.
He is still writing the story.
He is still working behind the scenes.
And He is able to bring beauty from circumstances that may seem unfinished today.
Trust His timing.
Trust His wisdom.
Trust His heart.
One day, the pieces may fit together in ways you never expected.
Be encouraged today.
