A word from The General
Waiting has never been one of my strongest qualities.
Give me a problem to solve, a project to build, or something that needs fixing, and I am ready to get to work. I like movement. I like progress. I like seeing things in action.
Waiting is different. It is said, patience is a virtue. I believe it is, and the results of patience can be remarkable. I have an overwhelming amount of patience for some things, and oftentimes very little patience with myself. That is something I continue to pray about, along with wisdom.
Waiting on God, often times feels like nothing is happening.
Yet some of the most important work God does in our lives happens while we are waiting.
David understood this better than most. Although God had chosen him to become king, the promise was not fulfilled overnight. David spent years waiting for God's timing. During those years he faced uncertainty, danger, disappointment, and questions that likely had no immediate answers.
Still, David trusted God.
I think many of us struggle with waiting because we want to know what comes next. We want to understand the plan. We want reassurance that things are moving in the right direction.
But faith often requires us to trust God before we can see what He is doing.
Looking back over my own life, I can see times when God was working behind the scenes while I thought nothing was happening at all.
The waiting was not wasted.
When one door seemed closed, I learned to turn the page and focus on what God had placed in front of me while waiting for Him to reveal the next chapter.
God was preparing something I could not yet see.
That realization has helped me become a little more patient and a little more willing to trust His timing.

Background
Psalm 27 was written by David during a season of uncertainty and opposition. Although David expressed confidence in God throughout the psalm, he was still living through difficult circumstances.
The psalm reveals both courage and vulnerability.
David trusted God deeply, yet he also understood fear, loneliness, and waiting.
The final verse serves as both a reminder and an encouragement:
"Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."
Notice that David repeats the instruction to wait.
That repetition emphasizes the importance of trusting God's timing, even when answers seem delayed.
Meaning of "Wait for the Lord"
Biblical waiting is not passive.
It is not giving up.
It is not sitting still without hope.
Waiting upon the Lord means:
• trusting His timing
• believing His promises
• remaining faithful
• continuing forward while expecting God to work
The strength mentioned in this verse comes from confidence in God, not confidence in ourselves.
Waiting requires courage because it asks us to trust God with what we cannot control.
Encouragement for Today
Perhaps there is something in your life that you have been waiting on.
An answer.
A direction.
A healing.
A resolution.
A prayer that seems delayed.
Psalm 27:14 reminds us that God's delays are not God's absence.
He is still working, even when we cannot see the full picture.
Be strong.
Take heart.
Trust His timing.
The God who has guided you this far has not forgotten you.
